Statements of Faith
Authority of Scripture. New Life Church accepts the Bible as the revealed Word of God and the sufficient authority for its faith and practice. The following statements express the beliefs that unite the Church.
The Inspired Scriptures. The Old and New Testaments are the inspired and infallible revelation of God and the authority for Christian faith and conduct.
The One True God. There is one true God, who has revealed Himself as the “I AM,” the Creator and Redeemer of humanity.
The Deity of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. Scripture declares His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death, resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of God.
Salvation. Humanity’s only hope of salvation is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is received by grace through faith and is accompanied by repentance.
Ordinances of the Church. New Life Church observes two ordinances:
Water Baptism. Believers are baptized by full immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Holy Communion. In the Lord’s Supper, the bread and the fruit of the vine represent the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit. We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit as described in Acts 1:8 and Acts 2:4. Speaking in other tongues is one of its signs, alongside the gifts of the Spirit.
Sanctification. Sanctification involves turning away from evil and dedicating our lives to God.
The Church and Its Mission. The Church represents Jesus Christ on earth and is called to carry out the Great Commission, following the example of the Church described in Acts 2.
Ministry. God calls and equips ministers to lead the Church in its mission of helping people Know God, Be Restored, Uncover Purpose, and Live Sent.
Divine Healing. We believe divine healing is provided for today through the atoning work of Jesus Christ, as taught in Scripture.
The Blessed Hope. The resurrection of the just is the blessed hope of the body of Christ.
The Millennial Reign. We believe the second coming of Christ includes the rapture and His return to earth with His saints to reign for one thousand years.
Final Judgment. We believe there will be a final judgment in which all people will be judged.
The New Heaven and New Earth. We believe God’s children will dwell with Him forever in a new heaven and a new earth.
Marriage Policy. New Life Church believes that marriage is a sacred covenant instituted by God between one man and one woman and entered into publicly before God. This understanding, referred to in this policy as the Biblical Definition of Marriage, is grounded in Scripture, including Matthew 19:4–6.
The Church recognizes and affirms the Biblical Definition of Marriage in its teaching, ministry, ceremonies, and use of Church property and resources. Elders, officers, employees, and others acting on behalf of the Church are expected to conduct Church activities in accordance with this policy.
Church facilities, property, and other resources may be used only for activities consistent with this Marriage Policy. Decisions about such use shall be made by the Church in accordance with its sincerely held religious beliefs.
This policy expresses the Church’s understanding of Scripture. Changes to civil law or public opinion do not, by themselves, change the Church’s religious beliefs or this policy.
